Building a Defensible Onboarding Process in the Gulf and Africa

As onboarding moves online across the Gulf and Africa, institutions need more than faster checks. They need a record they can stand behind.

Across the Gulf and Africa, banks, fintechs, employers and government services have moved onboarding online at remarkable speed. Customers now open accounts, apply for credit and submit employment documents from their phones. That progress brings a new responsibility: knowing what each submitted document reveals, and being able to prove later how every decision was made.

Regulators in these markets increasingly expect institutions to show their work. Data protection laws such as the UAE's Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, Saudi Arabia's Personal Data Protection Law, Qatar's Law No. 13 of 2016 and Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 also shape where evidence can be stored and how it must be handled.

A defensible onboarding process rests on four foundations. Collect evidence securely, through requests that leave a clear trail. Examine it consistently, so every applicant is reviewed to the same standard. Keep a person accountable for every decision. And retain a complete record of what was received, what was found and who decided.

Truvasse was built around exactly these foundations. It examines submitted digital evidence for supported forensic indicators of modification, inconsistency and provenance issues, presents each finding to an authorised reviewer, and keeps the evidence, review and decision as a defensible record.

Where evidence lives matters as much as how it is reviewed. Each enterprise Truvasse deployment is dedicated, with its own database, storage and application, and can be hosted in country or inside an institution's own cloud, so evidence stays where its regulators expect it.

We are working to bring Truvasse to institutions across the region through licensing, implementation partners and our API. If your organisation is rethinking onboarding, we would welcome the conversation: www.truvasse.com/partners
